What changes by tier
🌱

The free tier touches no student records, so you can start this afternoon.

Every California district’s LCAP, SARC, Dashboard results and board policy are already public. Free reads those and nothing else, which means no data privacy agreement, no security review and no call to your CTO before you find out whether the answers are any good.

Founding districts pay less than any of this.

Our first twelve California partners get materially reduced pricing, locked for three years, and it doesn’t reset when we raise prices. In exchange we ask for your real questions and your real security review.

Founding terms

Figures are indicative and current for 2026–27. You’ll get your district’s number on the first call. We aren’t going to make you sit through three meetings to find out whether this is affordable.

Never a line item

Some things are in every plan, at every size.

These aren’t upsells. Charging for them would make the product worse.

💬

Unlimited questions

Nothing is metered on a paid plan. The moment a district starts counting its questions it stops asking the useful ones, and we’re never paid more for a confident guess than for an honest “insufficient evidence.”

👥

Unlimited staff accounts

Everyone in scope, at no extra cost. Access is decided by your roster, not by how many seats you bought.

🔒

Everything your security review asks for

CA-SDPA signed, the audit log, tenant isolation, no training on your data. Not a premium tier.

📤

Export on the way out

Your data, documents, metric definitions and audit log, in open formats, at any time. No exit fee.

The last row isn’t a tier limitation. Quilt is read-only in year one at every size. Why

Paying for it

It fits the funding you already have.

We’ll help your business office document the alignment. Whether a funding source is allowable stays your CBO’s call and your auditor’s.

Get a quote your board can see

  • LCFF supplemental and concentration where the use aligns to your LCAP goals and services for unduplicated pupils
  • Title I, II and III where the use fits the program
  • Local general fund, often against a data-analyst vacancy you’ve been unable to fill
  • County office cooperative purchasing, where your COE holds the agreement
  • Consolidating existing spend, where districts have funded this from licenses the EdTech ROI review told them to cut

Before you ask

Pricing questions we get on the first call.

Why not per teacher, like the AI tools we already buy?

Because per-seat pricing would make us worse at our job. Most of the value here comes from a principal asking a question she wouldn’t have filed a data request for. Charge per seat and districts ration access down to the people who already had it, which is the exact problem we’re trying to solve.

Enrollment is also the number your business office already budgets against, so the line item needs no explanation on a board agenda.

Can our bill change during the year?

No. One number, agreed before you sign, for the whole year. No usage meter, no credits, no overage invoice, and no true-up if your enrollment moves or your staff start using it more than you expected.

Heavier use is the outcome we want. A pricing model that charges you for it would quietly work against the product.

What counts as a student?

Your CALPADS certified enrollment at the most recent Fall 1 submission. Not average daily attendance, not a headcount we take ourselves, and it doesn’t change mid-year if your enrollment moves.

What’s the catch with the free tier?

It reads public sources only. Your LCAP, SARC, Dashboard results, board policy, CDE files and the Education Code. That’s the whole limitation, and questions aren’t capped.

What’s not held back is the part that matters, the same five agents, the same citations, the same labels separating a fact from a reading. A watered-down version would tell you nothing about whether this works.

The catch, if there’s one, is that the free tier can’t answer questions about individual students, because it never touches your student records. That’s also the reason you can start without an agreement.

Can we start with one school?

Yes. That’s what the free and School tiers are for, and starting at one site is a reasonable way to find out whether this works before committing the district.

If you move up to District within the same year, we credit what you’ve already paid.

What isn’t included?

Custom connectors to systems we haven’t built yet are quoted separately, and we’ll tell you the cost and the timeline before you sign rather than after. Everything else, implementation, training, the security review, support, is in the subscription.

There’s no professional services line designed to appear after the fact.

What happens at renewal?

Founding districts renew at founding pricing. Everyone else renews at the rate in their agreement, with any increase capped and stated up front. There’s no auto-renewal trap and no penalty for leaving.

Do you discount for small or rural districts?

Per-student pricing does some of this on its own, and the flat School price does the rest. A single-site district pays $4,000 rather than a district minimum. Small districts have the same compliance obligations and the same questions as large ones, with a fraction of the staff to answer them. If the price is still the obstacle, tell us and we’ll have an honest conversation about it.

Start free. Upgrade when it has earned it.

The free tier needs no agreement and no card. Thirty minutes gets you a quote your business office can put on a board agenda.
